Native to the Mediterranean region, clary sage is a perennial shrub in the Salvia family. Traditionally used as a medicinal herb, it typically grows 3–4 feet tall and produces showy purple blooms that attract pollinators. Clary Sage essential oil contains the naturally occurring constituent linalyl acetate, which contributes to its calming and soothing herbal aroma. Applied topically, Clary Sage essential oil promotes the appearance of healthy-looking skin and is geared toward women for its aromatically soothing properties.
